If you’re looking for a fun, family friendly event this summer, we highly recommend visiting the Lakeland Country Fair. This traditional country show takes place every August and promises a day of fun and laughter in the great outdoors.

The Lakeland County Fair celebrates Cumbrian traditions and heritage skills through a variety of live demonstrations and performances. There’s also plenty of opportunity to browse local trade stands and enjoy a tasty bite to eat.

Throughout the day you can enjoy…

Traditional Cumbrian skills – watch a fantastic range of displays and demonstrations, which showcase heritage skills. These include stick making, chair-caning, fly tying, lace making, basket making, weaving, felting, spinning and sheep clipping.

• Dog shows – including terrier racing and lurcher, whippet and foxhound show. There’s also a novelty dog show with rounds such as ‘dog with waggiest tail’.
• Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling – experience authentic local sports and contests
• Horn blowing competition
• Children’s area – with bouncy castle, roundabout and trampolines
