The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse at Skelwith Fold is a luxury house built up from the foundations of the orangery of the former Skelwith Manor which dominated the Skelwith Fold Estate until the 1950s.

With six bedrooms and sleeping thirteen (or more) people, the whole family can enjoy a stay like no other in this brand new and custom built self accommodating home accessible house. The area around the house itself is enclosed to provide privacy while you relax, with sheltered areas to the front and rear for you to make yourself comfortable on a long summers evening. For an added touch of refinement, there is even a hot tub at the back to truly let you unwind after a long day’s exploring the lakes. Not to mention a BBQ ready for you to display your culinary prowess!

If you are the adventurous type looking for a luxurious accommodation for you and your friends and family to use as a base for your escapades around the Lake District, not only will The Greenhouse allow you to relax – but there is an outdoor boot wash and heated utility room, with washer and drier, for you remove muddy boots and get everything clean and dry for the next day.

The lounge is built around a central mock chimney stack and fireplace which is guaranteed to keep you toasty warm even at the colder ends of the season. The large kitchen is a chef’s dream, with plenty of space to work and fully equipped for all of your needs – including an inbuilt Google Home device to help you with timers, recipes, ordering food and much more.

The Bedrooms

Greenhouse Kingfisher BedroomThere are 6 bedrooms in total, four of which are located on the ground floor, with accessible access into the house.

Kingfisher, the master suite, has a luxury super-king bed (which can be separated into two 3ft beds on request). The well designed ensuite bathroom has a shower over the bath so you can choose to have a long soak, or refreshing shower.

Badger is our second luxury super-king room, that can be made into a twin room depending on individual requirements (please ask). This bedroom is suitable for a wheelchair user with an accessible wet room with shower (seat and hand rails). The room also has an emergency exit with a ramp to the exterior.

The two other downstairs rooms, Squirrell and Fox, provide luxury king size beds with ensuite, with shower over the bath.

Upstairs leads to Mouse, a cute attic room which the children love. It has 3 low small-double (4 foot) beds, accommodating up to 6 children (2 in each bed). Finch, our other double bedroom is accessed through Mouse, but can be locked for privacy. This is an attic room with sloping ceiling, and has a low king size bed. It has a lovely big window and charming feel, and has its own ensuite bathroom with separate shower and bath. We would generally recommend this room is taken by family members as the children share the bathroom. Due to the sloping ceiling we do not recommend this room for very tall people.
Along the corridor is the play/television room which gives the kids and teens their own place to relax, which has a separate WC (ideal for those staying in Mouse).

All of our bedrooms have their own comfort heating, and can be locked individually by keys if required. The luxury curtains and blinds give a near black out, which along with the comfortable beds and fresh air in the day, ensures a good nights sleep.
