The Best Lake District Food

Cartmel Pudding Company

If you have a bit of a sweet tooth then you have to try some of the wonderful puddings made by the Cartmel. The firm favourite with most people is of course their sticky toffee pudding however they also have banana, ginger, chocolate and apple flavours. Additional they produce seasonal specials of Christmas and figgy pudding.

Cartmel is a small family-owned business based in the South Lakes area of Cumbria. All their puddings are made using 100% natural ingredients.

English Lakes Ice Cream

Ever met anyone who doesn’t like ice cream? Us neither! We think the the amazing flavours made by English Lake Ice Cream are pretty special. They have three main ranges of luxury, classic and sorbet. Plus they have recently introduced a vegan range which includes six flavours.

Our favourite has to be their Thunder and Lightening luxury ice cream. It was first made when there was a thunderstorm going on over Kendal and the makers realised that their product looked the same! It is made with dairy ice cream, cinder toffee and chocolate sauce. Lake District food doesn’t get any sweeter or more delicious than this!

Hawkshead Relish

The Hawkhead Relish company have swiftly established themselves as one of the best produces of all things condiment! If you can spread it or dollop it onto your plate to take your food to the next level then make sure its made by these talented guys.

They have extensive ranges of chutneys, jams, marmalades and mustards. As well as some more unusual jars of black garlic ketchup and a number of seasonal specialities.
